Family Halloween Party

My family is crazy. To know us is to love us, I hope! But I do have to admit that we are crazy. However, we do know how to have fun. Last Saturday, my aunt, uncle and cousins once again threw their annual Halloween bash.

Last year’s party was impressive, but this year they went above and beyond with the decorations and the costumes. The theme was a three ring circus – as most of our family parties are. They were the ringleader, the bearded lady, a psychotic clown, an acrobat, the strongman, the wolfman, a fortune teller and a magician.

The details of the decor were spot on.

This year I was at a loss as to what our costumes should be. After Douglas told me that he was going to cheer for the Cubs in the National League Pennant, I got an idea. Douglas would be a Mets fan and I would be a Cubs fan. If the Cubs had won, I would be celebratory and he would be sad. As it turned out, I was the “sad” one while he had to act happy. Unfortunately, people did not seem to realize that we were in costume. Most thought that I really was a Cubs fan and that Douglas had been rooting for the Mets all along.

There were some other great costumes as well. Tinkerbell and the Crocodile. Death and a Crazy Cat Lady, Slash…

Overall, it was a great time, and I am slowly getting back into the Halloween spirit. My house decor paused after I finished the Haunted Halloween Hutch, but I am determined to finish this week. Unfortunately, I do not think that I can live up to my aunt and uncle on this one!

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house.
