Frame Worthy

For the last couple of months I have had a scrap of cardboard on my kitchen counter. It is something that Douglas left for me the morning after we had a big fight. We have been fighting more than usual lately. The fights seem to get resolved more quickly than they used to, but they are occurring with greater frequency. Sometimes I wonder if he wishes we never got married. Then, he left this note on the counter, “I get pissed, mad, + angry. But I Never regret the ring I have on my finger. I love you.” I kept it because the reminder is good for me.

So, when Douglas’ sister bought us a frame for Christmas, I decided to put my scrap of cardboard in the frame instead of a picture. Douglas was surprised. He did not think that this was “frame worthy.” What do you think?

What is the strangest thing that you have framed?

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. 1. awwwww… that is SOOO frame worthy! Sweetest thing ever.
As someone who’s been married 22 years I find this completely normal. I’m always suspicious of couples who say they never fight. WHAT? Fighting is part of the fun. Okay, you know what I mean. When we fight, it’s intense… but at least it gets it all out there. Better than curling up in a ball and saying nothing at all. That is never good. Making up after is even better.

Love the frame and the sweet note inside. He probably has no real idea of how much this really meant to you… this is a good way of showing him.

    • Well, he accused me of airing dirty laundry on my blog, but I do think that he is glad that the note meant so much to me. We are always going to fight, but we are getting much better at making up, so I am sure we will be alright.
