From the Garden to Our Plates

We neglected our garden this summer while we were traveling. As a result, we do not have as much produce as we could considering how much we planted. Despite the neglect, our Kentucky wonder beans are thriving.

Back in June, I set up this system of strings for the beans and peas to grow on. I was not sure if it would be sturdy enough, but it worked well.

The beans are HUGE! I was afraid that they might not taste as good since they were so big, but they are yummy. In the future hopefully we will be around to pick them when they are smaller.

We have already used the beans in several meals, and it appears that the plants are going to continue to produce beans for a while more.

Today I picked the largest beans for dinner.

Douglas bought me flowers at the grocery store while he was buying tuna for dinner. He is so sweet.

He also cooked dinner. Tuna grilled over charcoal served with black rice and sauteed green beans. Tasty! My man can cook. The proportions are slightly off. I did not eat all of the tuna, which means that I will have some for later.

  1. Nice lookin’ beans! It’s so fun to eat what you grow. We have neglected our garden this summer, too. Eric pulled up a turnip the size of a softball, and there are many more. What am I going to do with them all?? I think the veggies are going to eat US!
