Hammock Time

Is there anything more relaxing than a hammock in the summer?

In 2007, I bought a hammock in Venezuela. Since then, I have lived in six different houses and the hammock just keeps moving with me but has never gone up.

Last summer, I found a hammock stand at BJs that was a reasonable price. I do not recall exactly how much it cost, but it was under a hundred dollars. This hammock standis similar, but I think the one I got was cheaper. Doing another search I found this awesome Wooden Curved Arc Hammock Stand that even comes with the hammock. I wish that I had seen this before I bought mine!

Back to my story, I never did not hang up the hammock last summer even though I had the stand. We took apart the unused stand in the fall and stored it in the shed.

Finally, last weekend, we pulled it out, and I hung up my hammock!

Kahlua and I tested it out.

Kahlua was not a big fan, but maybe she will learn to relax.

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. • You definitely need to try a hammock. In Venezuela they sleep in them, in the areas where it is very hot. It is much cooler than a bed. You just have to remember to sleep across the width and not the length or you wake up with a sore back.

  1. LOL! When I first read the title of your post I thought it was called “Hammer time”! Good on ya for hanging a hammock just in time for summer! It’ll be a sweet relaxing spot I’m sure!
