House Tour 2013

The Cape of Dreams blog was born last year in August. At that time I posted the pictures of the house the way it was when I toured it in 2009 and what it looked like last summer in 2012. You can read that post here. I wish that I had taken pictures in 2010 and 2011 to see how the house looked in all stages. I will make up for that by taking pictures every August from now on.

So, without further ado, I present to you the Cape of Dreams in August 2013. Here is the floor plan.

When you walk into the front door you are in the living room. Here it is  from all angles. Almost every piece of furniture in this room is different than last year. We also replaced the windows in the entire house in March.

Down the hallway are the bedrooms and bathroom. I think that this is the first time I have ever taken a picture of the hallway from the other direction.

This is the master bedroom. It recently was updated with a new armoire. I am still in love with that wardrobe. Our love affair is going to last forever.

The guest bedroom was also rearranged to fit the dresser that used to be in the other bedroom. The artwork now looks oddly placed and needs to be rearranged.

The bathroom is the room that has changed the least since I moved in. The only major changes were the new faucets in the sink and tub. However, the only change we made in the past year was the addition of a plant. This is the first time that I have photographed this room from many angles.

On the other side of the house is the dining room. The light fixture is new…well, it is new to the room. It came from my grandparents’ house.

Through the dining room you enter the kitchen. The floors have been updated, the cabinet beside the refrigerator has been painted and the wine crate shelving was created.

Our little back porch has not seen many changes this year either. I wish we had done some work out here this summer, but we were too busy traveling. This is the only space that looks worse than it did last year.

The yard has changed. We took out a big bush and transplanted the rest of the privet hedges. Our garden is different every year, even every season.

It is exciting for me to see the changes from last year. Sometimes it feels as though we are not getting anything done, but this proves that we did make some headway on our project list this year. I hope you enjoyed the tour as well.

Happy Homemaking!

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. 1. What a sweet little house! I just love that green tiled bathroom. Thanks for the tour and the floor plan (I love floor plans)! If mine was as tidy as yours, I’d do a photo tour, too. Maybe after the kitchen’s done??

    • To be honest, I was sorely tempted to move the mess out of the pictures rather than clean. However, I was good and used the photo shoot as an impetus to clean the house thoroughly. I always feel so much better when it is clean!
