Overwhelmed

Every so often, things at work get really busy and I feel as though I can hardly keep my head above water. This last week was one of those times and things are not due to get better until Saturday afternoon. Despite all the work, I did manage to get into the city on Saturday to spend some time with my host sister and brother in law, who were visiting from Spain. Menderes came with us. It was freezing, but we survived.

We also had a nice dinner with my brother who came in from Brooklyn when he finished work to meet up with us.

I know that you will understand that I do not have a lot of projects going on right now. I do have one thing up my sleeve that I am excited to share with you, but that will have to wait for next week. In the meantime, here is a sneak peak. As you can tell it is a piece of furniture that is obviously not in my house. Hopefully it will be soon! Details to come.

A post on our trip to Chicago is also scheduled to post on Thursday. I wrote it last week before school started back up and save it. I had a feeling that I might need some content for this week!

In the meantime, I hope that everything is going well for you and that you are a little less crazy than I am right now!

Happy Homemaking!

About

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. You can read about my projects on my blog www.CapeofDreams.com

  1. I’m looking forward to your Chicago post. We were there in 2012 and had such a great time. As for craziness, wait till you read my next post! You will relate!
Take a deep breath and hug Kahlua and Crème (and even Douglas). 🙂

  2. Nice cabinet, such a classic shape. I’ve been to Chicago if clearing customs standing outside the doors for some air before boarding another flight counts! I regretted not booking a night or two before connecting as I’ve heard it’s an amazing city!

    • That cabinet, I have been struggling with what to call it because it is so unique, is really awesome. I cannot wait to get it, but we are trying to figure out a way to pick it up. It is a lot bigger than I originally thought. It’s enormous!

I highly recommend Chicago, but I sympathize with your fly through. I have been in Miami, Paris and San Juan, Puerto Rico dozens of times but only on layovers. I really want to go explore each of those cities.
