We are in CHINA!

I know that I am supposed to be sharing kitchen progress with you, but then on Monday, I told you that I would have more exciting news for you. The truth is that we are in China and have already been here for eleven days, and we are coming home tomorrow.

On the Great Wall of China

It is not a good idea to publicize the fact that we are out of the country, so before I left, I made sure that I had posts lined up for the entire time that we were away. My hope was that no one would notice that we were not home working hard as ever. Unfortunately, as you know, our work in the kitchen was derailed, and I was not able to come up with a final kitchen post. I figured that it would be alright to let you know why, since we return tomorrow. We also have a dear friend who is staying in our house and taking care of the beasties, and Kahlua is vicious, so no one had better try to break in. 😉

In the Forbidden City

In the meantime, we are enjoying our trip and look forward to sharing more pictures and stories with you when we return.

If you are dying to see some kitchen renovation, stop by the Ugly Duckling House to see the work of those that are dedicated to their houses and not flitting about the globe.

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. You can read about my projects on my blog www.CapeofDreams.com

    • It was not blue every day that we were there. The smog was bad at times. I feel as though I was smoking a pack a day for the last two weeks!

  1. Pretty sneaky way to disguise the fact you are gone! 🙂

What an awesome experience China must have been! I love the photo of you two on the Great Wall. Can’t wait to hear about your trip. Welcome home!! (Must be a marathon flight.)

    • Thank you! The trip was amazing, but the flight was torturous. Sitting on the runway for an hour and a half before we took off certainly did not make the 14 hour flight more bearable! At least it was a direct flight. I cannot wait to write about the trip. I just have no idea how many posts it is going to take since we did so much!

    • The weather was perfect for most of the trip, so we certainly were blessed. We arrived home last night and are now trying to get over jet lag. Arg!

  2. Nice pic on the riverwalk in Shanghai! You will have to fill me in on your trip. I did not get enough the first time so I am going back in July for 2 Weeks
