Where have I been? – ¿Dónde he estado?

I’m baaaack. Please, re-read that first sentence in Jack Nicholson’s voice if that is not how you did it the first time.

¡He vuelto!

So, what have I been up to for the past month? Although I have been unable to work on the house or blog, I have been busy. First of all, I have been dealing with some depression. It seems that there has been a lot of hate and negativity in the world these days. I am also missing the boys. Luckily, I have had some time with friends and family to keep up my spirits.

Visit with Charity

It is hard to believe that it has been over a month since I last posted. It does not feel that long. After my last post Douglas, Sofi and I were all sick. I did not miss any work, but I went right to sleep when I got home. I spent a lot of time snuggling with the animals.

No me parece tanto tiempo.

When we had all recuperated, Sofi and I headed to Philadelphia. We had been planning the trip since June. Our first stop was Dr. Mutter’s Museum. I will write about it soon. It is an impressive place.

Upon leaving there, we met up with Chad from Chad’s Crooked House. He gave us a one-of-a-kind tour of Philadelphia. It was fun to meet another blogger friend, and I appreciated learning so much about his city.

We went to Isaiah Zagar’s Magic Gardens. I have almost an entire post written about it. I just need to finish it. I wanted to move in, but since that is probably not going to happen, I was inspired to finish my own mosaic. As soon as the weather warms up, I will be out there. I promise!

Sólo me hace falta terminarlo.

The following weekend, Douglas and I went down to Washington D.C. to participate in the Women’s March. It was a day to remember forever.

The next Friday, Douglas, Kahlua and I went up to Vermont to visit friends and ski. It was a fun weekend.

This last Friday, I met up in the City with Sofi to say goodbye. She has been with a friend for the past three weeks. We had a couple of drinks and an appetizer before heading to Bryant Park to go skating. On Saturday, I worked at a wrestling tournament and then went out to Long Island to visit my mom and grandmother.

This week, I am determined to recommence some projects around the house. I am also going to start blogging again. I have missed it, and I do have things to share.

I am a teacher, traveler, artist, writer, homemaker and a whole lot more. In January 2009, I bought the Cape of Dreams. It was the second house that I had ever owned, but it was the first that I bought by myself. I now live in the house with my husband Douglas, our dog Kahlua, and Crème de Menthe, the cat. Because, what life is complete without a little Kahlua and Cream? I love arts and crafts of all kinds, and I refinish furniture as well. We are slowly redoing our entire house. You can read about my projects on my blog www.CapeofDreams.com

  1. Woah! You have been busy! The Mutter Museum – awesome! Meeting Chad – awesome! Magic Gardens – awesome! can’t wait to hear more about it. Sorry to hear about your depression, it’s understandable given the boys being gone + the assclown in office. MEH. I still can’t read the news, it’s way too depressing. Love the pic of all your fur babies in bed with you 🙂

  2. I’ve been struggling with our current political climate, too. It’s hard to be optimistic with all this going on. I commented to Eric that I look forward to the day when I can see a headline that doesn’t have Rump’s name in it.
But, it sounds like you are staying busy and having fun despite all. I’m glad you’re back blogging again! Yes, furbabies sure help.

  3. Whoa! You had a great January. So fun that you met and toured around with Chad. He’s real in a way I can truly appreciate (although we’ve not met). Can’t wait for more updates of your travels and homemaking. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music

    • I highly recommend touring Philadelphia with Chad. As a civil engineer with an interest in history who has lived in the area for most of his life, he knows a lot about the city that other people do not.
